Cincom Smalltalk™ is an object-oriented development environment with two distinct product offerings: Cincom® ObjectStudio® and Cincom® VisualWorks®. ObjectStudio is a Vista-certified, Windows-centric development and deployment environment, while VisualWorks is a cross-platform development and deployment environment. Both help developers build applications quickly and efficiently, from highly scalable web and web 2.0 applications to classic client/server systems.
Smalltalk was created by a handpicked group of computer engineers and scientists at the innovative Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC). This group was given the task of making computing so easy that a child could do it. Their resources were virtually unlimited, and they had no deadlines or product pressures.
The end result was a simple, versatile and tremendously powerful object-oriented development environment. Smalltalk shaped modern computing and still delivers better productivity than competing dynamic languages like Java, Ruby, Python, C++, and Visual Basic.
