Smalltalk Technology Conference Journeys to Canada
A cloudy day in Toronto, Ontario brought friendly faces to our first ever Smalltalk Technology Conference in Canada.
The Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Toronto played host to us, keeping the room warm and the snacks and drinks replenished throughout our four-hour conference. Suzanne Fortman, the Product Director for the Cincom Smalltalk STAR Team, lead off with the introductions. The next three sessions were focused on each product. Andreas Hiltner, one of our lead engineers, presented ObjectStudio® 8.2, demonstrating the modeling and mapping tools found in the new release while Arden Thomas, the Cincom Smalltalk Product Manager, discussed how it is being effectively used by our successful customers. Arden continued on with the next two presentations, one about VisualWorks® 7.7 and the other about WebVelocity™. He discussed how each one is being utilized effectively in some interesting vertical markets. Arden also presented a demonstration about WebVelocity, while James Robertson, the Cincom Smalltalk Product Evangelist, demonstrated VisualWorks.
