Smalltalk Technology Conference Kicks Off World Tour in Seattle
An overcast day in Seattle brought bright, shining faces to our first Smalltalk Technology Conference of 2010. These conferences came about last year in Minneapolis, Minnesota and Cologne, Germany. We had such success with those that we knew we had to carry it over this year.
The Crown Plaza in downtown Seattle was a wonderful host and we had a great spread for breakfast, as well as snacks and drinks throughout our four-hour conference. Suzanne Fortman, the Product Director for the Cincom Smalltalk STAR Team kicked things off by way of introduction.
The three sessions were focused on each product. Andreas Hiltner, one of our lead engineers, presented ObjectStudio® 8.2, demonstrated the new modeling and mapping tools found in the new release and discussed how it is being effectively used by our successful customers. Arden Thomas, the Cincom Smalltalk Product Manager, was next with presentations about both VisualWorks® 7.7 and WebVelocity™, sharing how they are being utilized effectively in some interesting vertical markets. Arden also presented a demonstration about WebVelocity, while James Robertson, the Cincom Smalltalk Product Evangelist, demonstrated VisualWorks.
